The Colossians Walk

Every chapter of this wonderful epistle, directly aimed at the present dispensation, speaks of the believer’s walk in Christ.

1:10. That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

2:6-7. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and build up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

3:7-8a. In the which [sins in v. 5] ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these;

4:5. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Quick thoughts: from these passages we see that ours is a fruitful, grateful (3:15), holy, and circumspect walk (Eph. 5:15-16). Notice the divine sufficiency we have in the broader context of Colossians 1:9:

1:9. “all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”

1:10. “all pleasing…every good work”

1:11. “ all might…all patience”
