Right Words

Bible studies, personal reflections, media reviews, and more: "How forcible are right words!" (Job 6:25a)

Dearest AI, Hands Off my Humanity!

Dearest AI, you can’t have my humanity!

Below is an excerpt from “The Flyover,” a nonpartisan daily news letter that I subscribe too…and recommend. The excerpt was linked to Cosmopolitan magazine, which I do not recommend 🙂.

“Over a third of engaged couples are now using AI for wedding planning, including drafting their vows, with one viral Reddit story detailing a bride who walked out after realizing the groom’s vows were bot-written.”

Why are people so eager to hand over their thinking to machines?! Over the centuries, and esp. since the 1800’s, machines have taken over an increasing amount of our work, and now “progress” has us on the brink of employing them for more and more for our thinking (!). With sincere apologies, I’m not handing over my brain – or soul – to some machine. I’ll gladly use AI to make my life easier, but it is NOT entitled to my life.

Signed,

AI Grumpus, Watchdog, etc.
